At Camp Mákemáke, our summer program thrives thanks to the incredible guidance of our senior counselors. What makes our team truly special is that they are all professional teachers from bilingual schools across Santiago, dedicating their summers to creating a rich, immersive, and joyful camp experience for our campers.
Having educators as senior counselors means that campers are supported by experienced mentors who understand child development, learning styles, and the importance of fostering confidence and curiosity. These counselors are fluent English speakers, which gives campers the chance to practice the language naturally, in fun and engaging ways, whether they’re exploring nature, playing sports, or participating in arts and crafts. The result is an environment where learning feels effortless and playful, and children gain both linguistic and personal growth.
Our camp family doesn’t stop in Chile. Over the years, we’ve been delighted to welcome senior counselors from Canada, the USA, England, Belgium, France, Australia, Uruguay, Turkey, New Zealand,
Brazil, and, of course, Chile. This international mix brings a wealth of perspectives, accents, and cultures to camp life, sparking curiosity and global awareness in our campers. From teaching songs in different languages to sharing stories about their home countries, our counselors help broaden the horizons of every child at Camp Mákemáke.
The combination of professional teaching experience, fluent English, and international diversity creates a unique and enriching environment. Campers benefit from personalised guidance, meaningful friendships, and exposure to new ideas and cultures—all while having the time of their lives.
At Camp Mákemáke, we are proud that our senior counselors bring not only expertise and energy but also a global spirit that turns each summer into an unforgettable adventure of learning, growth, and connection.
