This summer, Camp Mákemáke is proud to launch our brand-new CIT (Counselor-in-Training) camp—a program designed for our oldest campers to explore leadership, responsibility, and mentorship while still enjoying all the fun and adventure that makes our summers unforgettable.
We are especially thrilled to announce that Sophie Emery will be heading the CIT camp. Sophie, a Santiago College teacher and mother originally from England, has been a cherished part of our camp family for years as a senior counselor. Her warmth, experience, and deep understanding of children make her the perfect guide for our aspiring young leaders.
The CIT program is all about growth. Campers will develop leadership skills, gain hands-on experience assisting activities, and learn what it takes to be a mentor to younger campers. Sophie’s guidance ensures that this learning is not only meaningful but also fun, interactive, and inspiring. Her years of teaching and camp experience allow her to foster confidence, teamwork, and creativity, helping each CIT feel prepared to take on challenges while supporting others.
At Camp Mákemáke, we believe in creating opportunities that empower campers to grow into thoughtful, capable, and caring leaders. With Sophie at the helm, the CIT camp is set to be a summer full of discovery, laughter, and unforgettable experiences.
We can’t wait to watch this new program bloom and to see our young leaders take their first steps into a world of mentorship, guided by one of our most beloved counselors. This is a summer that promises growth, fun, and memories that will last a lifetime!
