One of the most magical parts of Camp Makemáke is the incredible mix of cultures and backgrounds that fills our camp every year. Over time, we’ve welcomed campers from all around the world, and each one has left a special mark on our Makemáke family. The director herself is half Canadian and half British and has lived all over the world.
Our campers—and their families—mainly live here in Santiago, but their roots stretch across the globe. We’ve had children join us from:
Panama, Switzerland, Spain, Mexico, South Africa, Ireland, Iceland, Ukraine, the United States, Venezuela, Belgium, the Philippines, Germany, France, Uruguay, New Zealand, Ecuador, Poland, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Finland, Canada, Turkey, Bolivia, Peru, Denmark, Italy, Russia, Norway, Argentina, China, India, the Czech Republic, Brazil, and Austria.
But the richness of our community doesn’t stop there. We also welcome campers from up and down Chile, from many different regions and from all kinds of schools—international schools, bilingual schools, local Chilean schools, and everything in between. Each camper brings their own story, their own laughter, and their own spark to camp.
Every session, the farm becomes a meeting place of languages, traditions, and experiences. And although each camper arrives with a different background, they all come to Makemáke for the same reason:✨ to enjoy a unique Chilean farm camp—full of English immersion, hands-on nature adventures, and the joy of real connection.
Seeing children from so many countries and regions connect around a campfire, feed animals together, or burst into giggles during games reminds us how beautifully diverse and united our community truly is. The friendships they build here don’t just last for a week—they travel back into their homes, their schools, and their future memories.
At Camp Makemáke, we are proud that our little corner of the world has become a place where cultures meet, curiosity grows, and every camper—no matter where they come from—feels right at home.
Thank you, families of Santiago and all of Chile, for trusting us. Thank you, campers, for bringing the world to Makemáke.
We love having each and every one of you.
